Say “hello” to Brett from Rainbow Meats, your local butcher and fresh meat expert that’s been serving the community for over 10 years.
Starting out in the industry in 1974 washing meat trays, Brett has become a well-known butcher with a wealth of experience. Working across various butcher shops not only taught him the art of cutting, boning and serving meat but also the skills of running a business; with Brett now being the Manager and Co-Owner of Rainbow Meats at CS Square.
“I was originally working as a carpenter and a mechanic,” said Brett. “I always enjoyed working with my hands and when the opportunity to take on a butcher apprenticeship was offered to me, it was an easy decision to make, and I haven’t looked back since”.
In 2019, Brett was a finalist in the Herald Sun’s Best Butcher awards, and with over 40 years of experience, he’s built up a well-known reputation within the local community. “I really enjoy helping customers with picking the right meats for their dishes. It’s such a great feeling making a recommendation to someone on a recipe or a particular cooking method and then having them come back the next week saying how they loved it”.
Brett also takes the time to train each of his staff to make sure they’re giving you best advice on all your favourite meats, giving you that extra personalised service. “What makes Rainbow Meats different to other butchers is that our staff can advise you on the right cuts for your next dish, share tips on how to best cook your meats and share great tasting recipes”.
When Brett’s not at the store, he loves going for a motorbike ride with his Harley, and with five kids, he loves spending time with his family. And yes, he loves a good barbecue, cooking up a juicy t-bone over the coals.
